Conventional Wellheads

In order to drill at pressures up to 20,000 psi, every wellhead component plays a critical role. FMC’s 20K wellheads are designed and tested not only for HP/HT conditions but for long life.
With proper maintenance, our wellheads have the potential to retain their original parts with little replacement for as long as 20 years.

Level 4 Unihead with a M2M Packoff

FMC’s Level 4 is one of the industry’s most advanced thru-bore drilling systems. Currently in use in the North and Caspian Seas, the Unihead features a metal-to-metal packoff and an internal latch mechanism that eliminates several leak paths – making it an ideal configuration for severe service environments. This system has undergone rigorous pressure and endurance testing, and is qualified to 15,000 psi.

20K Wellheads

When you specify an FMC 20K surface wellhead system, you can be assured that every nut and bolt meets our high standards for quality. From the casing head to the tubing hanger, every product we provide must achieve API’s PSL 4 certification. Our products are functionally tested to maximum operating pressure and are subjected to cycles in a temperature range consistent with environments to which they are exposed. For HP/HT wells, we test far beyond API’s most stringent qualifications to ensure our products’ reliability and safety.

Side by Side

FMC’s Side by Side (SxS) wellhead enhances platform efficiency by allowing installation of multiple wells inside one conductor – increasing production by two to four times that of a traditional platform. It allows you to drill two, three or four wells with a minimal number of slots, thus increasing profitability. SxS also provides the capability to maximize well slot use through batch drilling and completion and to re-enter well individually.



With today’s expensive rig rates, time is money. FMC’s UH-WB Split Unihead wellhead systems exemplify the benefits of drill-through technology by helping you save time and reduce safety risks.
The through-bore design permits drilling of two or more phases without removing the blowout preventer (BOP), resulting in an average time savings of 20 hours. Because reducing rig time also lowers operators’ well exposure, you enhance the safety of your operation by reducing the time spent working under a suspended BOP stack. The UH-WB has current qualifications up to 15,000 psi and has been successfully ASPI 6A (Annex F) tested.


In response to changing industry needs, FMC Technologies engineered to Drilling Time Optimization (DTO) wellhead system. The efficient DTO design bypasses time-consuming steps like cutting the conductor and casing, manually connecting the BOPs, and waiting on cement. As a result, it can save as much as 20 hours of rig time. By eliminating the need to work under the BOP, the DTO system also creates a safer working environment than a conventional wellhead. Available for a combination of casing sizes, the DTO is compatible up to 10,000 psi for 9 5/8” or 8 5/8” surface and 5 ½” and 4 ½” production casing.
